October 23, 2003

Xantic has announced that the basic version of AMOS Connect is now capable of working over the Iridium platform. A free of charge CD of this premium quality email service can be ordered from Xantic’s website or the software can be directly downloaded and installed. By optimally handling ship/shore satellite communication, AMOS Connect basic offers substantial cost savings of up to 85%, both Ship-to-Shore and Shore-to-Ship. It provides an ultra-efficient satellite communications protocol, including error correction, which is specifically designed for ship-to-shore communication. Use of the AMOS Connect basic version with Iridium shows data throughput rates on the Iridium network of up to 4.8 kbps. Combined with the compression provided by AMOS Connect, this solution offers Iridium users an effective throughput of up to 10 kbps. Cost-efficient and easy to set up, AMOS Connect can be used with Iridium airtime via short access code 6500 and a Xantic SIM card. By offering the subscription-free entry-level version of AMOS Connect in this way, Xantic allows Iridium users to benefit from this service while only paying for airtime. Other benefits of AMOS Connect include web-based account management and a 24-hour help desk, backed up by the Xantic global support network. Installation and registration of the free AMOS Connect version takes a matter of minutes. “We are extremely pleased that Xantic has now integrated this service offering over the Iridium system, and Iridium customers will most certainly appreciate the immediate cost savings,” commented Gino Picasso, President of Iridium Satellite LLC.
