Carnival Cruise Ships to Revisit Mazatlan

Mexico's Mazatlan Hotel Association, informs that Carnival Cruise Lines will resume service to the destination with year-round cruises departing out of Los Angeles.

"The inclusion of Mazatlan, or the 'Pearl of the Pacific,' in major cruise line offerings is a major achievement for the destination and we are thrilled to have Carnival back," said Frank Cordova, Secretary of Tourism for the region. "The city has taken great strides to improve its general infrastructure and the available amenities for cruise passengers, greatly enhancing its allure as an ideal travel destination."

The port says that In addition to Carnival, four major cruise lines either currently service or plan to service the destination. Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Azamara Club Cruises resumed calls to Mazatlan's port in 2013.

Princess Cruises recently announced its return beginning in fall 2014, with additional trips beginning in 2015 as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the cruise line's first voyage to Mexico.

It is expected that calls to Mazatlan's port will bring 200,000 tourists in the 2014-2015 cruise season.
