LNG Carriers Receive Wynn Marine Retrofit

January 16, 2003

Wynn Marine, the leading manufacturer of wiper systems for the marine industry is often requested to retrofit their equipment for ship owners from around the world. One recent retrofit of window wiper systems has been carried out through Golar Management with Wynn supplying Type D Straight Line wipers to 4 LNG carriers owned by the National Gas Shipping Company of Abu Dhabi.

“So far we have completed three retrofits for Wynn wipers, out of the four vessels in the series, with the final one to completed later this year. To date, all is satisfactory and life is quiet on the maintenance front which is just the way we like it,” said Ken Mortell, Technical Superintendent with Golar Management. To ensure a long life and efficient operation, Wynn wiper systems are subjected to a vigorous test regime on the company’s in-house test facility. This helps to make Wynn the first choice for many of the world’s shipyards, naval fleets, rescue services and commercial outfits. Wiper systems are an integral part of bridge equipment. Electronic navigation equipment makes finding the way easier, but a clear view is always needed, especially during the severe weather conditions encountered at sea. “We are confident of the quality of Wynn wiper systems and easy retrofit capability for our customers,” says Tony Parker, Sales Manager, Wynn Marine. “Optimized wiping efficiency and long MTBF values are just two advantages gained from using Wynn wipers, whether at the newbuild stage or as in this case, a retrofit,” concludes Parker.
