Hansa Hamburg Shipping’s series of four container feeders will soon be complete, with the 1,600 TEU MS "BARMBEK” scheduled for christening on July 2 at a ceremony at the Port of Hamburg’s Überseebrücke terminal. The MS "BARMBEK”, like its sister ships, bears a name with a long tradition. Reederei Knöhr & Burchard Nfl., the vessel’s commercial manager and one of the oldest shipping companies in Germany, and has used the name "BARMBEK” for three other vessels, the first in 1895. The technical management of the latest MS "BARMBEK” is in the capable hands of the Hamburg-based Wappen Reederei shipping company. The MS "BARMBEK” is the last in a series of four container feeders. The vessels are highly flexible, making them equally well suited to both emerging markets and established routes. Their special cargo hold configuration enables rapid loading and unloading, and their "Finnish/Swedish 1A Super” ice-class specification, the highest available, means they are easy and cost-effective to use in the ports of northern Europe.
