Hamburg Süd's First Argentina Christening

The Monte Alegre, the ninth in a series of ten ships of the 5,552 TEU Monte class, was christened in Buenos Aires on March 22. It was the first ship christening in the more than 137-year history of Hamburg Süd to take place in Argentina.

Sponsor of the Monte Alegre was Dr Brigitte Oetker, wife of Dr. Arend Oetker, Managing Partner of Dr. Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co.

On delivery, the Monte Alegre was phased into the shipping company's Asia - South America Service. Following the christening, she is to be deployed in Hamburg Süd's Europe - South America East Coast Service.
