Comment Period for BWMS Type Approval Policy now Open

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that it is seeking public comment on a draft policy letter for accepting test methods that measure viability of organisms when conducting Ballast Water Management System type approval testing.

The draft policy is available on the Office of Operating and Environmental Standards website, or via the Federal Register Notice.

Comments must reach the Coast Guard by Sept. 30, 2019. Submit comments on the draft policy by visiting http://www.regulations.gov and searching for docket number USCG-2019-0477.

The Coast Guard looks forward to the public’s thoughtful input on this draft and will assess those comments and publish a final policy letter after incorporating the necessary changes. It is a privilege to have this opportunity to hear from interested stakeholders.
