Irby Joins Bollinger as Construction Chief

Danny R. Irby has joined Bollinger as executive vice-president, new construction responsible for all aspects of construction of new boats, barges and other specialized vessels and equipment, commercial and government. “Danny’s leadership and proven ability to successfully perform in all aspects of the new construction business makes him a great addition to our team as we continue our efforts to increase our business,” said Mike Ellis, Bollinger executive vice-president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining Bollinger, Irby had been vice-president, production and operations of Jeffboat LLC, Jeffersonville, Ind., a builder of tank and hopper barges as well as towboats, ferries, casino boats, cruise ships and a variety of specialized vessels. He joined Bender Shipbuilding and Repair, Mobile, Ala., in 1977 after receiving a Bachelor of Engineering Technology from Mississippi State University in Marine Engineering. While at Bender he progressed from project engineer to design group manager, to production manager, new construction division and vice-president, new construction. At both shipyards he introduced innovative, new programs for improving product design, quality and performance as well as personnel safety.
