Chesapeake Begins Restaurant Vessel Construction

Chesapeake Shipbuilding Corp. has signed a contract with Maritime Equipment Corp. for the design and construction of a new 140 ft. restaurant vessel, with delivery scheduled for May 1999. The vessel will be certified for 500 passengers and feature a complete galley for onboard foodservice. Twin Caterpillar 3408 main engines will provide 12 knots service speed and two Caterpillar 3306 generator sets will provide the ship's service power. Navigation and electronics installed are Furuno Radar, Icom Radio and Northstar GPS. This is the third vessel built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding for Maritime Equipment Corp. in the last two years.
