PD Ports Wins Container Carrier Award 2011

February 20, 2011

PD Ports has been recognised at the ASDA Carrier Awards for the second year in succession, winning the UK Container Carrier Award 2011 for the combination of its Logical Link and PD Logistics services. ASDA launched the awards last year to help it continue to raise standards amongst its logistics suppliers, and contestants had to demonstrate improvements in seven areas: colleagues, service, compliance, empty miles/positioning, equipment, fuel efficiency and innovation. Frank Antropik, PD Logistics General Manager (North) collected the award from Lee Hodgkin Carrier Manager – Imports, Supply Chain Operations at the awards ceremony at Queens Hotel, Leeds. PD Ports launched the Logical Link shortsea shipping service between its own facilities at Teesport and Felixstowe, saving ASDA $19.5m and three million road miles annually through the three times a week service. PD Logistics transports the containers from the quay at Teesport to the ASDA import centre on the port and to external sites within the area. It also devans distressed or out-of-spec cargo, provides flexible warehousing space and handles overflow road trailers as needed. PD Ports also recently won the Supply Chain Partnership Award at the annual IFW Freighting Awards, the first time a ports group has won this category.
