Irish Company to Supply U.S. Container Terminal Cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. to supply two Megamax Cranes to Maher Container Terminal

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. has recently secured an order for a pair of high-tech Megamax cranes. The cranes have been ordered by Maher Terminals LLC for their strategically located Port of New York / New Jersey container terminal.

The cranes on order for Maher Container Terminal have a waterside outreach of 61m a span of 30.48m and a landside backreach of 22.9 m. The S.W.L. of the crane is 66 tonnes under twin lift spreader with a lift height of 42.67m under spreader. 

Hoist speeds are 70-175m/min, trolley speed is 245m/min and crane travel speed is 45 m/min. Crane drives are Liebherr A.C.

These cranes are state of the art and include a straddle carrier positioning system, a laser scanning boom anti-collision system and a gantry ultrasonic anti-collision system. The crane is fitted with numerous cameras covering the span and backreach area, cargo area and the boom operation. Feeds are displayed on monitors in the driver’s cabin, the machinery house, the operator’s cabin and the landside gantry station.

The addition of these two cranes to the Maher Container Terminal brings to 8 the total number of Liebherr STS cranes supplied to New York/New Jersey ports since 2001.
