Columbia Container Terminal Orders Tideworks TOS

February 5, 2013

Tideworks Technology® announce that Barranquilla Container Terminal chooses its Terminal Operating System (TOS).

Barranquilla Container Terminal is a joint venture between SSA International and Sociedad Portuaria del Norte (SNP). The new facility will be managed by Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO) and will initially have capacity for approximately 122,000 TEU annually. Barranquilla Container Terminal plans to expand the container yard to five hectares and increase capacity to 190,000 TEU during a second phase of development.

The terminal will deploy Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Forecast® by Tideworks and Spinnaker Planning Management System® to manage container operations. Tideworks will provide all associated implementation services including project management, software customization, user training, and go-live assistance.

Once the technology is implemented, Tideworks will provide 24/7 technical support and all software upgrades. Under an Infrastructure Service Agreement incorporated in the master agreement, Tideworks will also provide Barranquilla Container Terminal with remote technical services to include system health monitoring and database and OS administration. Tideworks’ TOS is expected to go live at the Barranquilla Container Terminal in the second quarter of 2013.

“We are excited about the opportunity to be part of this new venture in Colombia, a very dynamic and innovative region of South America,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “This deployment continues to reinforce Tideworks’ position as a leading provider of terminal operating systems in Latin America, and we look forward to supporting Barranquilla as it grows and expands.”
