New Containership Enters CMA CGM Fleet
Containership CMA CGM Tigris, the fourth vessel of a series of 28 ships from a 9,400-10,900 TEUs class, was delivered to the CMA CGM Group on December 23, 2014 in China.
The group received the delivery of the first vessel of this series, CMA CGM DANUBE, in June. Each vessel of this series will be named after a famous river of the world.
CMA CGM Tigris was built by the Chinese New Times Shipbuildings within about 10 months of her keel being laid, and was delivered on-time.
At 300 meters in length and 48 meters wide, the ship was designed to offer maximal loading capacity with a capacity of 1,458 reefer plugs 40’, which is reportedly the largest so far on such a vessel.
The CMA CGM Tigris is equipped with environmental technologies which reduce its C02 emissions, as well as the group’s carbon footprint. It is equipped with new bulbous bow shapes improving the hydrodynamics of the vessel at a speed of 16 to 18 knots. The ship also features as an electronically controlled long stroke engine with an exhaust gas bypass system offering the best in fuel consumption, a twisted leading edge rudder with bulb and a ballast water treatment system.
CMA CGM Tigris will be bareboat chartered under the Malta flag, and will be positioned on the SEAS Line and operated on the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong kong, Singapore, Santos, Paranagua, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Paranagua, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai.
