RI Firm Awarded Aicraft Carrier Support Contract

The Lightship Group, LLC (ASK Services) a Marine and Industrial Support firm located in Wickford, RI has recently been awarded a Navy Contract for Machinery Condition Analysis supporting the Carrier Planning Office aboard U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers and the Associated Battle Groups.
The primary objectives of the Machinery Condition Analysis (MCA) program is to provide accurate and timely condition assessments, fault diagnostics and repair recommendations for the rotating propulsion and auxiliary machinery based on vibration analysis, performance data, reviews of maintenance data and visual inspections of machines. This information is used in planning repairs as well as machinery acceptance after repair. Lightship will also be responsible for extensive Vibration Analysis training of shipboard personnel.
With over twenty years experience; the contract was awarded as a “Best Value to the Government” Request for Proposals, with an estimated value in excess of $10,000,000.00 if all options are exercised. Lightship chose DLI Engineering of Bainbridge Island Washington as their Sub Contracting Partner in this venture. DLI Engineering is the supplier of the hardware and software currently in use by the Navy. Lightship and DLI have worked as partners on numerous Commercial, Industrial and Government projects over the past fifteen years. Both firms have an intense understanding of Shipboard Condition Based Maintenance. These surveys are a key component in classification societies Continuous Improvement Programs recognized by ABS, DNV and Lloyds.

Lightship/ASK's corporate and engineering offices are located in Wickford, RI with a fabrication, machine shop, warehouse and technical support facility located at Quonset Point.
