CVN-71 Contract Awarded

Earl Industries, Portsmouth, Va., is being awarded a $38,619,000 fixed-price contract for the planned incremental availability of the USS Roosevelt (CVN-71). Work will be performed in Portsmouth, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured via the Internet, with eight proposals solicited and two offers received. The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, U.S. Navy, Portsmouth, Va., is the contracting activity (N62678-04-C-4016).
