KMSS Awarded Kalmar Contract

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has been awarded the contract to upgrade and relocate simulator facilities for the Kalmar Maritime Academy in Sweden. The academy, the largest of its kind in Sweden will relocate to a coastal location at the end of 2002, when KMSS will deliver the order. KMSS has already delivered and installed 5 Databridge 10 and 5 SeaMap 10 units in the training vessel ‘MS Calmare Nyckel’, owned by the Kalmar Maritime Academy. The latest order is for a Navigation Simulator Upgrade, Cargo handling simulator and a GMDSS training unit. The extensive simulator upgrade package consists of the latest navigation equipment from KMSS including the Databridge 10 radar/ARPA and the Seamap 10 ECDIS. KMSS will also supply the latest state of the art visual system with 10 channel Sea View I, which provides a 270 degree field of view. The cargo handling simulator comes with 16 dual LCD monitor workstations and offers high-fidelity models of VLCC, a Chemical Carrier and a Product Carrier. The GMDSS trainer consists of 8 workstations and will incorporate communication equipment that is applicable to all four sea-areas according to IMO/SOLAS regulations.
