Blohm + Voss Gets QM2 Repair Contract

September 28, 2005

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will arrive in Hamburg at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH on November 8 for maintenance and repair work. The Queen Mary 2, which was built in 2003, will go into drydock Elbe 17 for maintenance work for the first time. Classification work and extensive painting work will be carried out in the dock. The propulsion units, the anchor winches as well as the four stabilizers will also be overhauled. Owing to the tight agenda and relatively short lay days in Hamburg, Blohm + Voss Repair employees were already on board the cruise liner in Southampton to carry out the necessary preparations for the work. The Queen Mary 2 will leave the Hanseatic City again on November 19. With the placing of the order, the Repair Group has once again proven its competence and competitiveness in the worldwide competition in the field of Life-Cycle Management and Refit.
