BAE Systems Norfolk Awarded 'USS Wasp' Contract

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Va., awarded Navy contract by US Department of Defense to drydock 'USS Wasp' (LHD 1) and work on repairs and maintenance.

The $110,781,296 undefinitized contract action has been awarded as a modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-11-C-4407) for the USS Wasp (LHD 1) fiscal 2013 drydocking planned maintenance availability.

A drydocking planned maintenance availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities. 

Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by May 2014.  Fiscal 2013 Operations & Maintenance, Navy and Fiscal 2013 Other Procurement, Navy funding in the amount of $48,594,869 will be obligated at the time of award, and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
