Croatian ship repairer Viktor Lenac won contracts worth $25 million to refit two foreign ships by the end of this year. One ship is owned by Baltimore-based Caldwell Cable Ventures and the other by British company Fisher and Sons. Both will be made over into specialized vessels for laying optical cables.

The shipyard is currently negotiating another similar project, it said without giving any details. Lenac plans a major expansion worth $30 million this year in a bid to attract more profitable repair jobs.
