New Navy Contracts

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $27,056,613 cost-plus-fixed fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2303) to exercise an option for additional class services associated with the detail design and construction of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt class destroyer.  This work will provide technical and industrial engineering in the interpretation and application of the detailed design to support construction and the maintenance of the ship design.  Work will be performed in Bath, Maine, and is expected to be completed by December 2010.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Colonna's Shipyard, Inc., Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $6,685,899 firm-fixed-price contract for a 100 calendar day regular overhaul of Military Sealift Command's cable laying/repair ship USNS Zeus.  The ship's primary mission is to install and repair undersea cable systems.  This regular overhaul will include dry-docking and undocking the ship; work on the main propulsion motors; transducer and sonar equipment installation; underwater hull preservation; and propulsion shaft removal and inspection.  The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $9,362,355.  Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by February 2011.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract was competitively procured and posted to the Federal Business Opportunities website, with four offers received.  The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Fleet Support Command, a field activity of Military Sealift Command, is the contracting activity (N40442-11-C-5000).
