NSSL Contracts STM
December 7, 2006
NSSL has contracted telecom solutions provider STM to deliver, install and support SatLink DVB-RCS hubs on the East and West Coasts of the US, providing coverage of the marine routes frequented by ships in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, U.S. and Pacific waters. The service will use transponder capacity on satellites owned by SES Global and Intelsat.
STM will deploy its Maritime SatLink modem, to be used for NSSL's Cruise IP service. The modem enables automatic beam switching during transition from one satellite coverage area to another - a feature that allows ships travelling within any satellite coverage area covered by STM DVB-RCS hubs to automatically obtain service as they leave one area and enter another. NSSL will also install a STM voice gateway at the Hubs.
