Comark Corporation Receives ABS Type Approval

Medfield, MA. March 21, 2011  – Comark Corporation, a leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedized computer solutions for the marine, military, and commercial markets, has received Type Approval on their 23” Series of MDU marine displays from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).  Type Approval is given to marine display products that are designed and tested to meet IEC 60945, Maritime Navigation and Radio Communication Equipment and Systems, and can be consistently manufactured. The MDU23 features a LED backlit display, which provides a more durable, brighter display, which consumes less power. All electronics are conformal coated to protect against moisture and corrosion, and touchscreen options are also available. The MDU23 has also been designed and tested to meet ECDIS requirements called out in IEC 61174. With a viewable screen area of 470 mm X 352 mm it is compliant with IMO ARPA requirements. “Comark’s MDU23 has been designed and testing to provides our customers with a rugged and reliable solution that meets the strict operating requirements found in a marine environment,” said Steve Schott, President of Comark.
