Cummins Power for Arabian Gulf Crewboat

The Kuwaiti company, Arabian Gulf Mechanical Services and Contracting Co. Ltd., has been operating a 30.5-meter Grandweld-built crew boat since the summer of 2007. The successful boat, named Fraih-8, carries a 6.4-meter beam with a 3.25-meter depth allowing for 8400 gallons of fuel and 2000 gallons of fresh water as well as 195 gallons each of black water, grey water, Lube and hydraulic oil. Accommodation for an 8-member crew is provided along with seating for 24 off-shore personnel.Propulsion is provided by a pair of Cummins KTA38-M2 engines each producing 1400 HP at 1950 RPM and turning into ZF 3055 gears with 2.5:1 reduction and turning five-blade propellers for speeds in the 20 knot range. Engine controls are by ZF Mathers and steering is by Kobelt.
Arabian Gulf Mechanical Services & Contracting offers and extensive range of marine services. In addition to off-shore oil industry support they provide pilots and ship berthing for ocean going tankers with a range of tugs, crew boats, OSVs, well testing boats, crane barges and other craft.
