Danish Shipping Agenda in EU

June 24, 2019

Two European Commissioners will come by Amaliegade and Danish Shipping’s headquarters to discuss the most important points of the Danish maritime shipping agenda in EU in the coming years today.

The Slovenian EU Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc and her colleague, EU Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager will meet with Danish Shipping in Copenhagen.

The two Commissioners will meet with, among others, Danish Shipping’s Director General and CEO Anne H. Steffensen and chairman Jacob Meldgaard.

"We are pleased that two strong Commissioners take the time to come by our house to discuss the challenges and opportunities Danish and European shipping will be facing in the coming years," says Anne H. Steffensen, Director General and CEO of Danish Shipping who would like to discuss several issues with the two commissioners.

"First of all, it is important for us that the Commissioners understand the importance of increasing the funding for research and development of more sustainable shipping. We need to succeed in finding the CO2-neutral ship, and we would like to see the European Commission being more ambitious in this respect,” says Anne H. Steffensen.

"Furthermore, Danish Shipping is extremely concerned about the record-high number of trade barriers recently identified by the European Commission in its annual report. And even though we recognize and appreciate the efforts of the European Commission to maintain free trade, the EU could perhaps use its representations even more actively than they do today,” says Anne H. Steffensen.
