Poland Expects First LNG Delivery to Baltic Sea Terminal in Autumn

Poland's newly appointed treasury minister Andrzej Czerwinski said on Wednesday that first shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the terminal at the Baltic Sea are most likely to come in autumn.

"From the projects I looked at it seems obvious that the LNG terminal is the key thing. Things perhaps will significantly accelerate in the final months. The (first) ship is most likely to come in autumn," Czerwinski told private broadcaster TVN BiS.

He added Poland will not agree to pay more than agreed for the terminal.

The terminal is Poland's flagship project in its drive to diversify gas supplies and reduce dependence on Russia.

Italian firm Saipem, which is leading the consortium building the terminal, said earlier this year it will complete the delayed construction this summer, but only if it receives further payment.
