Denmark Promises Vietnam for Strong Support on Development

The Danish government was committed to implementing the Denmark-Vietnam Cooperation Development Strategy for 2006-2010,said Danish Prime Minister at a meeting in Hanoi.
During the period, Denmark's aid projects and programs for Vietnam would give priority to trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries, environment, and administrative reform.
“They would focus especially on socio-economic development and poverty reduction in remote areas,” Bendtsen continued.
Hung hailed the tangible benefits Danish assistance had brought, helping Vietnam achieve its socio-economic development targets.
He expected bilateral trade to go up and Denmark's direct investment in Vietnam to exceed $1b.
Bendtsen said Vietnam was an important Asian partner for Denmark and that his country supported Vietnam's bid to become a WTO member and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2008-2009.
Bendtsen is on a five-day visit and is accompanied by 21 major Danish businesses from various sectors like construction, shipbuilding, and food manufacturing.
