Diamond Services Adds New DP-Equipped Crew Boat

Morgan City based Diamond Services will soon take delivery of another 170-ft. crew/supply boat from Swiftships Inc. also of Morgan City, La. The new 170x30x13-ft. aluminum vessel will have a 105x24-ft. open cargo deck with a 200 long ton capacity. In addition to seating for 80 passengers, the boat will have accommodation for up to nine crew in four double and a single Captain's cabin. Tankage will include: ship's fuel 5,800 gallons; transferable fuel 17,800 gallons; transferable potable water 24,800 gallons; fresh water 1,230 gallons; sewage tank 720 gallons; ballast tank 12,200 gallons. Propulsion features four Hamilton HM651 water jets powered by Cummins KTA38-M2 12-cylinder engines rated 1350 HP continuous at 1900 RPM. The engines are fitted with AF M/N BW255 marine gears. A Beier VCS2000 DP-0 dynamic positioning system will work with the jets and a 24-inch Thrustmaster hydraulic bow thruster. Electric needs will be met by a pair of Cummins model 6BT(D)M5.9 powered 75 Kw generator sets. A Demming M/N 5061 fire monitor is supplied by a 600 GPM Cummins 4B3.9M-powered pump. Design speed on the new vessel, to be named Miss Julie, is 30 knots based on 80 passengers, crew, ship's fuel, ship's water, and 30 LT of deck cargo.
