Transas Electronic Charts Approved by HDNO

The Head Department of Navigation and Oceanography (HDNO) of the Russian Federation has recognized Transas vector charts in the TX-97 format for use in remote areas of the World Ocean, as per Notices to Mariners issue 32/2003 *5093/3 of August 2003. According to the HDNO recommendation, the usage of the Transas world TX-97 database with updated paper charts will improve safety of navigation. After a close verification procedure, the expert commission has confirmed that Transas vector digitized electronic charts represent a high-quality product fully compliant with all the related international standards and regulations, including the ISO: 9000 quality system. The in-house production of vector electronic charts is an important area of Transas activities. As of August 2003, the number of charts in the Transas collection constitutes 10,000 charts, all digitized from paper chart data published by all the major national Hydrographic Offices. The worldwide coverage achieved by the Transas Chart Collection, secures for users of Transas navigation systems and Transas partners safe navigation in practically any region around the globe. The electronic charts in Transas proprietary TX-97 format are widely recognized in the international market, with over 1 million copies supplied with ECS and ECDIS systems to more than 5,000 customers throughout the world. Among the fleet customers for Transas charts are Princess Cruise Lines, Chevron Shipping, Seariver Maritime, Stena Line, Tor/DFDS Line, Holland America Lines, Northern Shipping Co, and many others.
