Pequot Orders Litton Thermal Imager, Bridge Electronics

Litton Marine Systems has received an order to supply an AMIRIS infrared imaging system and other electronics for a new catamaran passenger ferry under construction at Pequot River Shipworks.
Under the contract, Litton is providing a C. Plath Navigat X MK 1 gyrocompass, Navipilot HSC autopilot, in addition to the AMIRIS infrared imaging system for the new 147.6-ft. 300-passenger TriCat ferry being built for Catalina Cruises.
This is the second Pequot vessel to be fitted with the AMIRIS infrared imaging system. Since its initial introduction in 1997, the AMIRIS product has been upgraded with options such as an integrated CCD camera, providing a variable thermal image overlay, dual axis stabilization and a laser range finder.
AMIRIS is available with either a monochrome or color display. AMIRIS is also offers a full 360 degree viewing axis by using a slip ring assembly rather than cabling.
