U.S. to Adopt Delay in STCW 95 Enforcement
January 30, 2002
The U.S. Coast Guard announced that it has adopted the recommendation of the IMO STW Subcommittee to delay enforcement of STCW 95 vis-à-vis foreign vessels until August 1, 2002. While the United States did not support the delay when it was proposed, neither it nor any other IMO member opposed the measure. The goal is uniformity in the application of STCW 95.
