Baumy Named Corps Engineering Chief

Walter Baumy Jr. has been named the new chief of Engineering Division for the
New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Formerly the chief of Civil Branch, Baumy began working for the Corps 28 years ago
while in college. Other positions held include senior structural engineer, supervisory
structural engineer, supervisory civil engineer and chief of General and Environmental
Design Section, General Engineering Branch.
Baumy graduated from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in
engineering in 1976. He earned a master’s in civil engineering from Tulane in 1981.
Baumy has been a registered civil engineer in the state of Louisiana since 1982.
Baumy is married and has five children. He is from St. Bernard Parish and currently
resides in St. Tammany Parish.
