Free Webinar: Engineering Simulation

May 13, 2009

A free webinar on Engineering Simulation for the Design of Maritime Structures will be hosted by CD-adapco on May 20 and 21, 2009

As engineering simulation tools and technology continue to advance, the application of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) in the marine industry has become an indispensable supplement to traditional experimental methods.

This is especially true for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) which, among other things, allows engineers to use computer simulation as a “virtual towing tank.” This method provides performance data for various designs, and it is more efficient in both cost and schedule than traditional testing.

This event will explore the benefits of CFD simulations for realistically complex designs to compute free-surface hydrodynamics including wave breaking and cavitation while simultaneously accounting for the motion of the maritime vehicles and structures.

Milovan Peric, the Director of Technology at CD-adapco and co-author (with J H Ferziger) of Computational Methods for Fluid Mechanics, will discuss recent innovations in applications of flow, thermal and stress simulation and how they are impacting the development of maritime vehicles and structures.
