Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN), a Verestar company, has signed a three-year contract with ResidenSea to become the exclusive telecommunications provider for its new vessel, The World, the first resort community at sea that continuously runs around the globe.

MTN was awarded the competitive contract in collaboration with Norwegian agent, General Industry Systems, located in Stavanger, Norway. Specialists in providing communications facilities for all maritime vessels as well as the cruise line industry using total global satellite services, MTN will install its Digital Ship Earth Station (DSES) onboard The World within the next few months.

With this new service, passengers onboard The World will be able to access all of their communication services from home or office via satellite communication services, including telephone service to and from the ship, faxing and high-speed Internet capabilities.

MTN will also be installing its ShpNet infrastructure; an innovative shipboard communications network, offering state-of-the-art communications abilities with advanced efficiency. The company's complete maritime solution will be enhanced for The World with the addition of private phone lines and unlimited voice, data and Internet services in every residence onboard the vessel.

MTN will also be providing prepaid calling cards and the capability to print multiple U.S. and international newspapers for onboard residences.
