Blue Swan Technologies Pursues Environmental Excellence

September 24, 2010

Ottawa’s Blue Swan Technologies Corporation, a privately held company dedicated to excellence in environmental protection, has succeeded with further recent tests of its innovative Great White decontamination and clean‐up product.

Developed over more than a decade of rigorous assessment and field use, Great White is a unique filter medium, for applications in water purification, air emission quality and spill response. Interest has been expressed in the product for possible use after the recent Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Demonstration tests have lately included absorption tests on transmission oil and the effective cleaning of oil soaked bird feathers.

Blue Swan’s CEO, Gisele Fortin of Montreal, said that Great White would be next evaluated for water filtration in emergency situations, including postdisaster scenarios such as Haïti.

“Great White has great potential as the highest quality water filtration medium, offering a real opportunity for flexible, low cost and inherently reliable safe drinking water systems. We are evaluating how to partner with aid relief agencies, including the United Nations Environment Programme’s Disaster Risk Reduction measures.”

Blue Swan Technologies anticipates completion of a further round of specialty testing of the Great White product by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and will release such results as early as possible.
