Adams, Chief Executive of IBIA

February 23, 2009

Ian Adams has been appointed the first ever Chief Executive of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) following the decision to change from a 25-member Council of Management to an executive structure headed by a Board of Directors.

Adams was formerly Secretary-General of IBIA which, since its formation in 1993, has been governed by a Council of Management. The decision to restructure was unanimously agreed by members at the IBIA convention in Cape Town in November last year.

The newly constituted Board of Directors is comprised of:
Chris Fisher, Bunker Claims International (Chairman)
Nigel Draffin, LQM – Gibson (Honorary Treasurer)
Fritz Fredriksen, Hoegh Autoliners AS
Mike Ball, Gearbulk (UK) Ltd
Trevor Harrison
Bob Lintott, ISO Industries Inc
Mustafa Muhtaroglu, Energy Petrol
Angus Ogilvie, Cockett Marine Oil Ltd
Alejandro Risler, Risler SA
John Stirling, DNV Petroleum Services
Tim Wilson, Lloyd’s Register EMEA

Newly appointed Chairman Chris Fisher said, “The smaller board should be able to focus more easily and move more quickly on issues that affect our members. We expect members to benefit from the changes. I see it as one of my goals to develop IBIA in such a way that it will actively facilitate the process of discussion at a high level across all sectors on a global basis.”

Founded in 1993, IBIA is the trade association of the global bunker industry. Its membership is drawn from bunker buyers, traders, brokers, suppliers and service companies worldwide.
