FMC Extends Comment Period on P3 Vessel Sharing

November 20, 2013

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is accepting further public comment on the P3 Network Vessel Sharing Agreement until midnight Friday, November 29, 2013. On October 24, 2013, A. P. Moller-Maersk A/S, CMA CGM S.A. and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, S.A. filed the P3 Network Vessel Sharing Agreement with FMC. The proposed agreement would authorize the applicants to share vessels and engage in related cooperative operating activities in the trades between Asia, North Europe, and the Mediterranean on the one hand and the U.S. on the other hand.

If the FMC takes no action to seek an injunction or to require additional information, the agreement will become effective on Sunday, December 8, 2013. Notice of filing of the Agreement was originally published in the Federal Register on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 (78 FR 64941).

Comments should address data and information related to the legal standards embodied in Section 6(g) of the Shipping Act of 1984, as amended by the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 1998, (46 U.S.C. §41307(b)(1)).
