Coast Guard to Build $17m Facility in New Orleans

February 26, 2007

The Coast Guard Sector New Orleans recently announced plans to build a $17 million facility on the Naval Support Activity next to the Federal City in New Orleans. The decision will eventually bring the total jobs to nearly 2,500 at the Naval Support Activity. "The Coast Guard's decision brings us closer to creating the critical joint military and federal installation complex we had in mind for the Federal City," said Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Michael J. Olivier. "This announcement is a result of efforts put forth by Louisiana Economic Development, Governor Blanco, the Louisiana congressional delegation and the New Orleans Federal Alliance to bring jobs, economic growth and progress to this portion of the state." Although not technically located at the Federal City, the new facility will benefit from the quality of life, professional support and security upgrades offered by the complex.
