Fugro-Geoteam, with headquarters in Oslo, is one of the world’s larger offshore seismic contractors operating 8 seismic vessels world-wide. Several of the vessels are equipped with as many as five Vestdavit davit systems.

Øyvind Norlen, marine superintendent, Fugro, says, “My absolute priority is to keep our fleet operating safely with no injuries, downtime or failures. We use davits to launch and recover work boats and FRCs on a frequent basis. Davits are critical to our operation and to providing a safe working environment for our crews. We simply cannot afford any failure.”

As part of its commitment to both safe and efficient operation Fugro-Geoteam has entered a fleet service agreement with Vestdavit. Vestdavit will train users in operation and maintenance onboard and at Vestdavit’s training facility. It will perform all 5-year inspections and periodic servicing of the equipment. The agreement provides Fugro-Geoteam with preferred pricing and priority for Vestdavit’s skilled engineers and spare parts.

“Our first priorities with this agreement are safety and operational continuity,” says Øyvind. “We also see that with the online database we can improve coordination within our group, between our vessel managers and our seismic operations teams. That will improve efficiency because we have a better overview of all davit systems.”
