Geislinger Gets DNV Type Approval for Vdamp

June 25, 2009

Geislinger received type approval for its recently introduced Vdamp product range by the classification society Det Norske Veritas.

It also facilitates the use of Geislinger Dampers in 2-stroke applications, where the Vdamp protects the propeller or camshaft from damage by torsional vibrations. In such applications the damper is a crucial safety element and has to be classified, contrary to 4-stroke engines, where this is in general not the case. But also for these applications the DNV type approval for the Geislinger Vdamp provides a safe feeling, to have made the right choice with Geislinger.

Geislinger claims to have carried out extensive research and testing on the silicone oils used – with the result of a revolutionary calculation model for viscous dampers. The damper can be optimized in a better way compared to current solutions, to perfectly suit the torsional vibration behaviour of the system.

Geislinger is a leading supplier for torsional vibration dampers and elastic couplings for high-output diesel and gas engines. With its worldwide subsidiaries and vast know-how, Geislinger is acknowledged as development partner and problem solver close to the market. This innovative environment permanently leads to refined solutions like the Gesilco fibre composite products.
