Alabama-based offshore operator, P.G. Charter Boats have ordered a new 164 ft. high speed survey vessel driven by Hamilton water jets. The aluminum craft, which resembles Gulf of Mexico crewboats, will be driven by triple Hamilton waterjets powered by MTU diesel engines through ZF gearboxes. The propulsion system will be controlled by a dual station HamiltonJet MECS software configurable electronic control system. Designed by DeJong and Lebet of Jacksonville, the vessel will be constructed at Freeport Shipbuilding. Additionally, NY Waterway, the largest privately-owned commuter ferry operator in the U.S., has ordered a series of new Hamilton Jet powered ferries for passenger operations on New York Harbor. Three of the 79 ft. vessels will be of a catamaran configuration with the propulsion plant in each equipped with quadruple Hamilton Model 362 waterjets powered by Caterpillar diesel engines.
