Anadarko Petroleum Corporation awarded a contract to BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc (BMT) to provide an Environmental and Platform Response Monitoring System (EPRMS) and an Independent Remote Monitoring System (IRMS) for the Heidelberg spar in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The EPRMS monitors, logs and displays data in real-time to provide operational support functionality and archives data for assessing the facility’s integrity over time. The EPRMS for Heidelberg is comprised of a computer console, remote sensor packages, data acquisition software and custom operator displays.

In addition to the EPRMS, an Independent Remote Monitoring System (IRMS) is being provided for the Heidelberg project. The IRMS transmits key environmental and platform response data to shore when the facility is evacuated. The IRMS provides data, surveillance imagery, and video feeds in near-real time to allow the operator to observe the asset during periods of unmanned operation.

BMT brings experience to this project, having previously provided integrated marine monitoring systems and IRMS systems to nine other Anadarko Gulf of Mexico platforms.
