LRAD Receives $700,000 International Coast Guard Order

September 5, 2013

LRAD Corporation, provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), received a $700,000 order for LRAD 300X systems for installation on international coastal patrol boats currently under construction. Shipments under the order are scheduled to begin this quarter and continue as the patrol boats are delivered for deployment over the next 12 months.

"Coast Guard services around the world are experiencing increasing territorial water incursions and homeland security threats," said Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "The attention commanding voice broadcasts and deterrent tones of our LRAD systems enable Coast Guard personnel to unequivocally determine the intent of vessels not responding to radio calls and create large standoff zones to safely conduct maritime interdiction operations."

The LRAD 300X is a low profile, lightweight AHD designed for use on small vessels, security and defense vehicles, and remote weapon stations. The LRAD 300X broadcasts highly intelligible voice communications and powerful deterrent tones over distances of 350 meters to 1.5 kilometers. The extended frequency range of the LRAD 300X ensures multilingual voice commands are clearly heard and understood, even in severe weather conditions, to create large standoff zones, determine intent, safely alter behavior, peacefully resolve uncertain situations and save lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device.
