Interschalt MET Offers New Security Course Dates

August 26, 2013

Interschalt's Maritime Education and Training (MET) Center has added new dates for Ship Security Officer (SSO) courses to its training program. The courses are aimed at nautical officers, captains, marine engineers, security staff and shore-based shipping sector staff as well as port authority staff.

During the two-day course, participants receive training on the content of the ISPS Code and are entitled to assign individual responsibilities or the entire SSO position to someone else. As well as covering the requirements of the ISPS Code, the course is also based on the decisions of STW 34/WP.4 (Annex 3). Rule VI/5 of the annex to the STCW (Convention valid until June 30, 2016) forms the basis for Interschalt's hazard prevention (SSO) training offer.

"The course, which focuses on security, is not only designed to improve ship crews' level of training but also, for example, to provide security training for shipping companies' office staff. Participants learn everything that they need to know about identifying and preventing hazards", says MET Leader Axel Schult. The next training sessions will take place on August 28 and 29 as well as October 23 and 24, 2013 at Interschalt's MET Center in Schenefeld near Hamburg. The participation fee for the two-day course is €680 plus €12 each day for food (both plus VAT).
