Swedish coastal shipping company Pallas Shipping to use electrical shore power in port, turn off generators, prefer green electricity sources

Pallas Shipping has decided with its customers to connect their vessels to green power when the ships at berth for unloading or loading.

They have already begun this effort and their MT Pallas is equipped with shore power connections, and is in a position to  purchase  'green' electricity.

The term 'green electricity' means that Pallas Shipping scrutinizes the electricity supplier’s production. Primarily Pallas chooses to purchase their electricity where possible when it is generated by solar or wind power.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of August. The next ship in turn is the MV Pallas Ocean.

The advantages of the electric shore supply are: helpful to the environment, reducing  CO2 and NOX emissions, providing a quieter shilp for the crew and for the people and animals that reside in close proximity to the ship, in addition large savings in fuel.
