MTU “Ironmen” on Display in New Orleans

November 22, 2011

MTU’s booth at the 2011 International WorkBoat Show will highlight three of its longtime marine customers as they tell in their own words about their experiences with MTU engines. Through video and signage, attendees at the show will hear from tug operators who rely every day on their MTU engines for low fuel consumption, extended maintenance intervals and maximum availability. In addition, attendees will get to see those engines first-hand at the booth (#621). MTU will also highlight its marine control systems, genuine parts and service products.
The MTU family of engines for commercial marine applications includes the Series 4000, the Series 2000 and the Series 60 engines. On display will be the 16V Series 4000 “Ironmen” engine, which is EPA Tier 2-certified and covers a power range of 2,040 to 3,860 bhp (1,720 to 2,880 kW). The Series 4000 engine is also available in 8V and 12V configurations, covering a total power range from 1,040 to 2,895 bhp (746 to 2,050 kW).
MTU will also display its EPA Tier 2-certified Series 2000 engine as well as the Series 60 engine, which is also EPA Tier 2-certified and has long been a mainstay in the workboat market. The Series 2000 M61 is available in both 12V and 16V configurations and covers a range of 805 to 1,070 bhp (600 to 800 kW).
