The ordered Goliath gantry crane will more than double the lifting capacity, from 350 to 800 tons. The span will be 153 meters and the height 115 meters. With the new Goliath crane Kvaerner will be able to conduct two topside projects in parallel, compared to one earlier.

The markets on the Norwegian Continental Shelf show a large number of new oil and gas related onshore and offshore projects coming up during 2012-2020. Kvaerner is preparing for the future growth and investing in upgrades of its facilities, and in lifting and trailing capacity, including a new Goliath gantry crane.

“The investments made into manufacturing capacity and thus to an improved productivity in the Nordic countries are very encouraging. Kvaerner is an excellent example of a successful Nordic company, which continuously develops its operations,” says Jussi Rautiainen, Konecranes’ General Manager, Shipyard Cranes.
