DSC Dredge Meets with Louisiana Senator

October 6, 2016

On September 01, 2016, Bob Wetta, President and CEO of DSC Dredge, LLC, along with the other Louisiana E-Award winners, held a meeting in Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy’s office. The purpose of the meeting was to recognize the winners for their accomplishments that led to receiving this award. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports. In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America's exporter. On August 4, 1969, the Secretary of Commerce authorized the President’s “E Star” Award to recognize continuing significant contributions to expand the nature and volume of U.S. exports

Senator Cassidy was interested in learning about each of the award winners’ businesses, their accomplishments that led to being an award recipient, how they positioned themselves to become exporters and how they can help other Louisiana businesses to export.

“Senator Cassidy was very engaging, sincerely was interested in our businesses and was very interested in having this group mentor other Louisiana businesses,” said Bob Wetta. Senator Cassidy was impressed to learn that since inception of this prestigious program more than 50 years ago, DSC Dredge is only the third company to ever earn the E-Star Award twice.
“We are a small family-owned business, but we are a giant in our industry,” said Charlie Sinunu, Director International Dredge Sales for DSC. “Our export growth is a testament to the highest level of quality and technology in our equipment and our commitment to after sales service. Our success would have been impossible without the support and assistance from both the State of Louisiana and the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. State Department.”
