MacGregor, part of Cargotec, is to deliver a package of three cranes to a new offshore accommodation & construction vessel being built at Chantier Davie Canada, with delivery scheduled for the end of Spring 2015.

The vessel is the first in a series of dynamically positioned offshore accommodation and construction vessels, sleeping up to 400 passengers in a high-quality live/work environment. With that large accommodation, active heave compensated gangway and a variety of subsea and topside construction equipment, the vessel's multi-functionality allows it to be deployed globally to perform a broad range of tasks offshore.

The MacGregor package comprises three cranes: a 250-tonne SWL active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea crane; a 20-tonne SWL offshore crane; and a 5-tonne SWL shipboard crane. "Together they will deliver an advanced, flexible package that will give the operator enhanced capabilities in the offshore construction market," says Frode Grøvan, Director, Sales and Marketing for Advanced Load Handling.

Chantier Davie is one of the largest shipbuilders in North America and has delivered over 700 vessels and mobile offshore drilling units to clients globally.
