SpecTec to Purchase 20% MarineXchange

March 18, 2009

SpecTec Group, IT supplier to the merchant and cruise shipping markets, has recently acquired a 20% share in MarineXChange Software GmbH. MarineXchange is a provider of enterprise resource management software to the cruise industry.

"The two companies have collaborated for several years already, and our software portfolios and philosophies complement each other very well", said Giampiero Soncini, CEO of SpecTec Group. "Where SpecTec's main focus is on the technical, procurement, and compliance aspect of managing a fleet of vessels, MarineXchange software manages hotel supply chains, ports, itineraries, tours, culinary operations, restaurant reservations, payroll/HR and property management systems."

MarineXchange software can also be used for the food and beverage management of large fleets, as well as for land based hotels. MarineXchange software runs at the office and remote installations such as ships, hotels and warehouses. The software provides tools to collect and retain data, automate processes and share data across an entire organization. The software enables educated decision-making based on historical costs, revenues and guest perception. Efficiency gains and error reductions are achieved through interfaces with financial systems and reservations/CRM systems.

The MarineXchange e-commerce portal is integrated with its supply chain, itinerary planning, port information, destination information, vendor management and shore excursion management modules. MarineXchange clients already process over 99% of purchasing documents through the e-commerce portal.
