Canadian manufacturing group Bombardier announced it had signed a multi-billion dollar agreement to build two automated monorail lines in Egypt’s capital Cairo.According to a press statement, Orascom Construction, Bombardier Transportation, and Arab Contractors signed an agreement with the National Authority for Tunnels in Cairo to design and build the monorail lines.On completion of the construction phase, the consortium will be responsible for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of both lines for 30 years.The total value of the design, build and O&M contract exceeds $4.5 billion US (4.1 billion euro). Bombardier Transportation´s share is $2.85 billion US (2.6 billion euro). Orascom Construction’s share of the overall contract is close to $900 million US.

Boston-based developer of autonomous vessel technology Sea Machines Robotics has hired Chris Sotzing as director of engineering. Sotzing will be responsible for the development and deployment of the company’s Sea Machines 300 technology system, as well as managing the engineering team. Boston based Sea Machines Robotics said it will collaborate with Danish boat builder Tuco Marine to offer remote and autonomous control products as factory options in Tuco’s line of ProZero workboats. Last week, the two companies successfully demonstrated the remote command capability of the Sea Machines 300 technology at Danish Maritime Authority's “Zooming into Marine Autonomy Conference” where they gave live remote command of the water craft to Danish Minister of Industry, Brian Mikkelsen.

WASSP Ltd has announced the expansion of the company’s senior management with the appointment of Ian McDonald as General Manager. The role is a newly created position and will see Mr McDonald overseeing WASSP’s international sales & marketing strategy for their multibeam sonar products.
