PFLNG2 Keel Laid at Korea’s SHI Yard

Petronas has laid keel for its second floating liquefaction plant, Petronas Floating LNG2 (PFLNG2), in Geoje Island, South Korea. Petronas, together with JGC Group and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), the consortium leading the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of the PFLNG2, commemorated the milestone with a keel laying ceremony on October 28 at the SHI shipyard, signifying the formal start of the mega construction phase of the PFLNG2 with a collective weight of 134,000 metric tons. The Petronas delegation was headed by Vice President of Global LNG Projects, Adnan Zainol Abidin who was accompanied by Vice President & Venture Director of LNG Projects – Domestic, Datuk Abdullah Karim.

Steel Cutting of Petronas Floating LNG2

PETRONAS achieved another milestone with the official steel cutting of its second floating liquefied natural gas facility, the PETRONAS Floating LNG2 (PFLNG2) in a ceremony held on 11 June 2015 at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) Shipyard in Geoje Island, South Korea. The PETRONAS delegation was headed by Senior Vice President & Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation (PRPC), Dr. Colin Wong Hee Huing who was accompanied by Vice President & Venture Director of LNG Projects – Domestic, Datuk Abdullah Karim and Vice President of Technology & Engineering, En. Zakaria Kasah. “PETRONAS made a bold decision in January 2014 to make its Final Investment Decision (FID) for the PFLNG2 project.

Petronas to Deliver LNG from FLNG in Q1 2016

The world's first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, built by Petronas, is expected to supply its first cargoes in the first quarter of 2016, senior officials from the Malaysian state-oil firm said on Tuesday. The 365-metre (1,200 ft) long Petronas Floating LNG 1 (PFLNG1), with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum, would be completed by March next year, the firm's Vice President and Venture Director LNG Projects (Domestic) Abdullah Karim told reporters. "We expect the first cargo of LNG to be available in the first quarter of 2016," Abdullah said, adding that the gas supplies will likely be used for domestic consumption.

Keppel on Track to Complete FSO

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to complete the fast-track conversion of FSO Sepat, a floating production and storage (FSO) unit, for Bumi Armada Navigation Sdn Berhad (Bumi Armada). With a storage capacity of 500,000 barrels of oil, FSO Sepat will be deployed in offshore Malaysia for the development of the Sepat field for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. Naming the vessel today was the Lady Sponsor Datin Aspalela Mohd Yusop, the spouse of Datuk Abdullah Karim, President of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. "We are pleased to have been entrusted with all of Bumi Armada's FPSO and FSO conversion projects to date," said Mr Nelson Yeo, Managing Director of Keppel Shipyard. "FSO Sepat is another conversion unit that Keppel is delivering to Bumi Armada this year.
